Accepted a pricey quotation from this "specialist" for tiling work to be completed within 5 days. The quotation did not specify a 50% deposit upfront. Upon arrival with his team, the owner demanded a 50% deposit. When queried why this was not specified on the quotation, I was promptly reminded that it was the way his business worked and not for me to question him on how to run his company! Great start to a business transaction... but, as I had been let down the previous week by another contractor, I let that go and paid the 50% deposit. After the second day, it became apparent that the relatively small job was never going to finish in time. When confronted by my wife that late finish was unacceptable, Mr threw his toys out, jumped into his vehicle and drove off. Needless to say, project management from that moment on was non-existent. And every evening the "team" had to be provided with transport money (out of my pocket - how else were they to get home?) The "project" ended at 6:40pm Friday evening - "new" flooring an absolute mess - and predictably, demand for final payment arrived via sms Saturday morning! My opinion? Overpriced, unprofessional and very, very, arrogant.
