Carnegie Bursaries

I joined Wits this year (2013) as a postgraduate, after being convinced that "Wits gives you the edge", in the Carnegie GCSRI projects. However, my belief in this is fast dwindling as we are yet to be paid even the first payment of bursaries. All we have are numerous vague excuses blaming the "new refund system" even after satisfying the documentation required as REGISTERED STUDENTS. Not to mention that I experienced this shoddy and callous attitude to students during registration. I hear from second year students in the programme that these problems were there last year again. Stipends are supposed to cater for our living expenses so if we are made to get up to may and now fast approaching June without being paid, what do the fund managers and fees office really think we are surviving on? Landlords in Joburg need there RENTALS not EXCUSES. Post grad is meant to be enjoyable. Don`t reduce us to paupers please.
