New Amarok - High Oil Consumption - No CourtesyCa

I bought a brand-new Amarok Oct 2011. It's 18 months old with 33000km. To date I put in 5 pints of oil. The is no visible oil leaks. I made Tavcor (Market Square then) aware of this issue when I first had to top-up and have been monitoring it ever since.

It is now at a stage where the car has been tested 3 times and a case has been opened with VW (Germany). VW has verified there is a problem and my engine needs to be stripped and parts needs to be ordered. The entire process can take up to three weeks.

The ridiculous part is even though the car is still under-warranty and VW verified a issue with the car. They are wanting me to hire a car while my Amarok is in for repairs for the 3 weeks. They do not do courtesy vehicles, so the hiring has to be my own expense.
They also mentioned "we have a Motorent division for renting a vehicle".

This case is still open and I refuse to take money out of my pocket to fix factory fault.
I doubt this case will get solved by posting it on Hellopeter, although it would probably be a insight for people to say bye-bye-VW!

13000km - I had to top up 2 pints of oil
10 Sep 2012 (20029km) - Topped up 1.5 pint
12 Feb 2013 (28600km) - Topped up with 1.
