To Avis Management, probably nationwide: When renting a car in February in Durban they took almost R1000 from my credit card in case I wouldn't have filled the car up upon return. A small car, where there is no way one can fill that car up for R1000, even when the tank would be completely empty! I asked if I couldn't pay a cash deposit, but no ways. They said they would release the money within 30 days. After over 30 days I had to ask for it, then much later it was released (after about 45 days) and only yesterday I received an email saying the funds were released (after about 55 days, and about a month after my email asking for/complaining about the late return of money). Nice service, NOT! I find the whole procedure outrageous and thievery: it is a good way for Avis to make some extra money. When up to me I won't be hiring a car from Avis anymore if this is how it goes.
