Having rented a car from Avis for the best part of 12 months during 2012, I was involved in a non-fault accident start October where the driver of a HGV drove into the offside of my rental VW Polo causing damage in excess of R20K. The driver of the fault vehicle refused to give his details at the scene so i obtained some photographs and reported the accident via the local police station.
Given my contract with Avis, I ended up paying an excess of R11, 500 in the knowledge that this out of pocket expense would be reimbursed once Avis had claimed from the offending driver's insurance. However, and despite chasing Avis on numerous occasions, the first efforts they had made in terms of tracing the offending vehicle was end January 2013!!! Despite numerous chasers since this time, they have still not provided a meaningful update and I am still out of pocket!!!
