Kia Motors South Africa
Kia Cerato continual extended gearbox repairs

I purchased a new Kia Cerato 2 liter manual in 2011. The gearbox struggled to select second gear, and I was told it should become easier as it "runs in"! After 5000kms it developed a gearbox oil leak. I had to drive it like that until it could be repaired at about 12 000kms. I was without transport for 2 weeks while a faulty seal was replaced, luckily Kia The Glen gave me a courtesy car for 1 week to use. The leak was repaired under warranty, but the gear selection was still stiff. The gearbox developed a vibration and loud noise in December 2012. (Wrong oil was used I suspect) On 7 January 2013 the vehicle went in once again for the gearbox. Although Kia The Glen has kept me up to speed with progress I have been without transport since then. It appears that KIA refuses to replace the faulty gearbox, and is more intent on continually repairing it at Mayfair Diff and Gearbox, who seem unable to fix the problem. Spares availablity seems to be a huge problem as well! I find it disgracefull that I should be punished for 2 months (maybe more) by not having transport due to this problem! My wife drives the 1600 and both of us will be selling our Kia's very soon. We used to be a Kia fans!
