Disappointing service

I made an online booking with Woodford car rentals and received a booking ID confirmation. In this it was explained that the Credit Card would be charged on arrival. We landed at 4.00pm to find they did not have a booking ans as they did not have a car in the group that we had ordered- we had to wait.
We said we were not prepared to do so as we still had a 2 hour drive up the coast.

The Manager (who was not very helpful and quite rude) would not give us an upgrade. Eventually they said they were getting us a car but it still needed to be filled with petrol. The manager said we were getting an upgrade. That was not an upgrade as the smallest car ever as well as the fact that it had not be cleaned and it stank of smoke. We are both non smokers and felt quite ill with the strong small in the car on our journey that now took a lot longer in the traffic. We had used Woodford once before and were happy but after this experience, I don't think we would take that chance again. Also when I asked the Manager for a name to contact, he was very reluctant to do so. The only pleasant experience we had was the man named Riccardo who was doing his utmost to assist us but he had no authority.
