I moved house with Johannesburg Movers on 11 Dec 2013. I ordered 60 boxes and filled out a list of items to move, including the jungle gym, wheelbarrow and 3 pot plants. When it came to move the jungle gym, they said it would not fit in their truck, and they would have to fetch it another day. I did have some extra items which I had not put on the schedule, and mid-move they had run out of boxes and sent more from the office, so I accepted that they would pick up the jungle gym later that week. I paid my bill, including an additional R800 for the extra items on the schedule.
A few days after the move, I received a bill for R2300, for 30 additional boxes, over the 60 I had ordered. I counted and they had only moved 66 boxes in total, and only 62 had been packed by them. As I unpacked, I saw that over 50 of the boxes had been packed two-thirds full, and 2 boxes less than a third full, so they could easily have fitted the goods in 60 boxes. The jungle gym was listed as R1200 on the bill, but now they said they couldn't move it and would refund me. I hired a flatbed and moved it and the plant pots myself, but to date I still have not been refunded the R1200 for the jungle gym move.
