I was in an accident and insurance arranged for me to have a hire which I picked up from Europcar Rosebank. I filled in all my paperwork and paid a R1, 200 fuel deposit. A month later my insurance contacted me on another matter and then casually queried if the hire car was fine and was back with Europcar. I indicated that it was not and I was unaware that it had to be as nobody from Europcar had informed me so. They said to me that it was 5 days over a month and insurance would not fund it and given that Europcar did not follow up, they should pick up the extra 5 days. I called Europcar and they were relieved that I had the car as they mixed up the contracts and had someone elses name and contacts on the car they gave to me. They told me to bring it to the Sandton branch that evening and I did. I told the consultant that the contracts were mixed up and I filled the tank and wanted my fuel deposit. They have now billed me for the extra 5 days in the name of the incorrect person and I can't seem to get them to sort it out! They keep saying that they are following it up, but have not called me once to date. So now I'm supposed to be liable for the extra days and they won't give me my deposit back
