The only service station within a 5km radius of our home on a small holding in the Haakdoornboom area is a Caltex Service Station on Soutpan Road, North of Pretoria.
After a number of occasions of poor service, running the gauntlet of being entirely ignored by the petrol attendants while they ate their lunch on the forcourt, to being served last when we clearly got their first, to the rude attitude of the petrol attendants and their lack of training in service delivery, we were told by the owner of the service station that we were no longer welcome to fill our cars with petrol there until we apologised to the petrol attendants for our rude behaviour.
We have since adapted. We anticipate the distance and fill up in the city.
a few days ago the owner felt it necessary to escalate the situation, confronting my fiance when he stopped at the adjacent supermarket.
the owner then saw it fit to lecture my fiance on his religious choices (us living together is 'living in sin').
The confrontation was insulting and unnecessary and I bring it to your attention, because I believe that where a company's logo is displayed, there too is the company's ethos.
