BMW Menlyn had has my 2005 BMW 645, six times since last year June 2012 (as per their job cards show) to trouble shoot and fix an apparent serious problem with one of the parts of my vehicle that controls the safety system [airbags, safety belts, etc]. The fault was apparently identified, but the part needed to be imported. It was advised that the vehicle should be retained by the dealership"until repaired. After several weeks with no resolution, I collected the vehicle. After six attempts by the dealership (together with a BMW SA specialist) at correcting this fault at a total cost of R 51 000.00 to date, this fault still persists. After requesting an explination and refund from the dealership given that none of the work that they have done to date has resolved the fault, I was told that this would certainly not happen, but they would take a look at the problem again - I have declined the offer as I can not see what they will do this time that they could/should have done before.
I remain concerned for my own safety in my luxury BMW.
I am hoping that discussions (by my appointed lawyer) with BMW SA, The Ombusman and the Consumer Protection Act will assist in resolving this matter.
