I was in a head-on collision with my Mercedes Benz. The Insurance Company wrote the car off. After a lot of correspondence and phone calls to Mercedes Benz Head Office SA, I received documents from them saying that the safety equipment (airbags and safety belts) are complimentary with the car and don't have any gaurantee. I could not expect any compansation whatsoever from Mercedes Benz SA.
With this I want to let the consumer know, before purchasing a Mercedes Benz motorcar that all the safety equipment in the car, and forced to wear by Law, means nothing.
They show us movie clips on national TV of all the Safety features on the car, which also means nothing. As far as I'm concerned it is all Legal.
When everybody walked into a Mercedes Benz Dealership the first things the salesperson hammers on you all the safety features of the car, and 99% of them do not know that there is no gaurantee on the safety equipment. as well as 100% of all South Africans don't know it and if you tell them this, they do not believe it.
