This complaint is referred to the RMI as the transgressor is a RMI member and displays the RMI symbol on his website. The company in question is Transmission & Propshaft Rebuilders, owned by a Mr Vaughn Smith.
We own Mayfair Gearbox in Upington, and in March 2013 we ordered and paid for a T4 Volkswagen Kombi gearbox with Transmission & Propshaft Rebuilders. We checked with them at the time and were told the gearbox was in stock. The amount we paid was R 24 000.00. Whenever we could get hold of Vaughn Smith he promised the gearbox, but nothing happened. We had to get a gearbox at a great cost from another source, and asked Smith that our money must be refunded. On numerous occasions he promised to do so, but nothing was done to date.
It is rather obvious that he is an unscrupulous person with no intention to refund our money.
As a last resort we refer this matter of gross misconduct by one of your members, to RMI and wish to request that your instruct Vaughn Smith to refund our money, as well as ask for your consideration of cancelling their membership with your organisation, as they put RMI in a negative light displaying themselves to be a member.
