Upon a visit to ocean basket's kilo of street branch on Tuesday of this week a surprise awaited my fianc? in the calamari of our full deck platter. Being a very regular customer of the franchise, it was very surprising to find what the manageress called the "backbone" of the calamari. To the naked eye it would appear as a piece of plastic which one finds wrapped around a toothpick. My fianc? removed the supposed "backbone" of the calamari from a calamari tube. I immediately called the manageress over and according to her it was the backbone, to prove us wrong she brought a raw piece of calamari to the table to show us this plastic like backbone of the calamari. I have enjoyed this specific meal countless times at ocean basket and have never everyone across something like this. Also I have also interacted with raw calamari tubes numerous times and have also never come across something like this! My outrage is not at the fact that the backbone was not plastic, but however it is for the mere fact that it was there in the first place. I have not come across this backbone on other occasions at OB. Had my fianc? not been a conscious eater he could have easily choked on it!
