We, my wife and I visited Col'cacchio Montecassino last night. The restaurant was about 1/4 full. There were 4 or 5 waitpersons on duty. The area outside was the busiest with about 4 tables occupied, but all these were served by only one waitress. She simply could not manage with the work load, it took 10 min for someone to come and greet us, another 10 min for someone to take the drinks order and another 10 to bring the first items to the table.
We asked some of the other waiters for assistance, but they simply conveyed our message to the waitress who was serving us, and carried on hanging around the welcome area and chatting loudly. The poor girl was running between the 5 tables and just could not everybody timeously. There was not a manager to bee seen anywhere. It was not our waitress fault, but the service was really very slow and unpleasant. At the end when we got the bill we saw that a 10% service charge was added automatically. I was going to tip and I did, but I found it unacceptable that a Service charge was added without asking, the waitrss did not warn me about this and I was going to add another 10% tip, if I did not look carefully at the invoice.
