It is so rare these days that a restaurant in JHB impresses me, and very very rarely a franchise.
I decided to stop there on route home last night. My 2.5 year old daughter and I were seated and I only then discovered that there is a play area, so after placing the ordered I chose to move to a table where my daughter could easily access me. I thought I was going to cause tension between the waiters and when I saw how easily and happily they spoke to each other I realised there is great comradery amongst them. Next when I looked I saw that my waitress Angie had my daughter on her hip and showing her all the things she does as a waitress, I have seen a smile and an offer of a sweet but never a service orientated person engaging on this level. I never once had to run after my daughter as all the waiters were happy to keep an eye on her to spite them doing their work too. I really had a dose of the South African spirit I have been feeling dwindling lately. Its the stuff that makes us a GREAT country. THe food was as good a franchise meal gets and there was a misunderstanding with my order which was sorted out with a smile and grace. THANK YOU MIKE"S KITCHEN FOR REVIVING MY FAITH IN SA!
