My 21 year old son approached the KemptonPark CBD branch of FNB to close a savings accounts I opened for him when he was about 6 years old around 1998 in Durban. Despite having provided to the Randburg branch residential details and his ID book after 16 years in order for him to be the primary signatory in 2008/2009 he was told that he would need to go to Durban - Overport branch where the account was opened as there were screens of information they could not see. Really - in this day and age of technology and real-time information. What more do they need than identification of account holder. We now live in Joburg. The savings account number is 62008524408 held by Mr. Sethaba Phewa, date of birth 05 January 1992.
I opened the account for him back then in the 90s and am appalled at this inconveniencing customer service.
