Our own bank FNB made our credit record 'bad'?

My husband has been trying to get an overdraft facility from FNB for over a year now... each time he has applied, they have rejected him claiming 'bad credit' record... and each time after checking with Transunuion ITC personally and 'rectifying' what ever issue it appears to be, he gets told the same thing... Eventually, after 1 year, we went into the branch (Rivonia), to find out what the problem is... even the gentleman that assisted us at the branch on 15 March 2013, confirmed my husband has a good profile... But, when he dug further to ascertain why the overdraft facility was not being granted - he confirmed that the 'actual' reason for the overdraft not being granted is because his credit has been checked too many times??? So, what was happening, is that every time we re-applied for his overdraft faciitiy, it was actually worsening his credit record? NOBODY EVER told us that? And as our personal bank, surely FNB should have educated us on this? Because it was with FNB be that we kept applying with, and it was them who was doing the credit checks each time... Apparently, if your credit is checked more than 10 times in a 2 year period - you are classified as 'bad credit'?
