Not willing to pay full claim

Through my broker (Autosure - also not recommended! No assistance whatsoever) I got insurance for my newly purchased vehicle (Toyota Hilux). 2 days after I received the car it was in Melville. The registered value with the bank was R185, 000 and the insurance cover was R154, 000 due to the book value of this car.

The car was and now 6 weeks later Affinity made a claim offer of R84, 000! I expected to pay the excess, but I had bought additional insurance to cover certain insurance exclusions should the car be damaged or within 30 days. The calculations Affinity sent looked like they were drawn up by a 5 year old, were incorrect and looked like they were quickly done in a Word document.

I pointed out to them that the calculations were incorrect and this was not according to the agreement made with my broker. This was 10 days ago and still no feedback has been given which resulted in me not being able to finance a new car and therefore I am not able to work and without an income.

I suggest NOT TO TAKE ANY INSURANCE WITH AFFINITY UNDERWRITERS NOR TO DEAL WITH AUTOSURE as they offer no assistance.
