I recently opened a savings account with FNB Namibia for the Visa benefits their cards hold. I was told by the consultant that I can use my Visa debit card for online purchases and I confirmed with family in South Africa that they are able to make online transactions with their FNB Visa debit card. I also visited a different bank who allow online transactions with their mastercard debit cards.
Upon trying to add my debit card to Google Wallet, I am greeted with a message that says my card cannot be authorised. I've been phoning around the entire morning and the bank consultants just give me a straight up no, you cannot use your debit card for online transactions.
As far as I am aware, Google Wallet supports Visa Debit Cards, Bank Windhoek allows online purchases with debit cards and South African account holders are able to use their debit cards for online purchases.
Why am I not allowed the same functionality with my card? For crying out load, it's 2013 people, wake up!
Just to clarify, I do not want a credit card, so please do not make this suggestion, I just want a Visa card that I can add to google wallet and paypal
