After repaying my student loan for the past 5years, I have been handed over to attorneys! In March 2012 I found out that my outstanding balance on my account is incorrect. After visiting the branch and discussing the entire situation with them, they came back appologising for their over R6000-00 mistake, but with still an incorrect balance. After countless meetings and hours on the phone and email and actually leaving a nasty letter on hellopeter to them, i finally recieved feedback and a letter of release. i made appropriate arraingements with the above mentioned REGAN BROWN, but low and behold, not a month after speaking to him and recieving my letter, i recieve a sms stating that my account has been handed over for the previous incorrect balance!! Now i am told that i can not just pay the amount as stated in the release form, oh no... i have to pay the full amount unless ABSA responds before end of APRIL 2013! i have no hope that this will happen and want to send out A HUGE WARNING TO ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS CONSIDERING A LOAN WITH THEM. their are far better and more honest financial institutions out there!! please do not make the same mistake as i did, thinking absa cares!
