Outstanding amount on account

In January 2013 I made arrangements with ABSA to pay off my credit card account that I have with them. I was previously under debt review and came out from under it. We made an arrangement of R350.00 per month. ABSA send me a letter stating the arrangment and that the outstanding balance amount on my account in Jan 2013 was R2024 - Yesterday 02/05 I phoned them to find out what the outstanding amount is cause I want to settle the account. To my shock I'm informed that the balance is now all of a sudden R5091.09. They see that I made my payments. I requested how is it possible that the amount can jump so much and they couldn't assist me. I was informed they will contact me with the correct amount after they have calculated the balance which will take 4 to 5 working days.
My question is don't they calculate it every month after payments were received? I pay my monthly arranged amount but instead of the amount going down - it's going up?

ABSA is quick to send sms / letters and phone to threat when your account is getting behind but when you pay and request outstanding balance you must wait 4 - 5 working days.
I want to settle this account and then CLOSE it.
