A DMC consultant came to my workplace twice in one day saying that he is representing DMC & the matter regarding a personal loan which I had with STD in early 2000. I received an informal hand delivered letter in my letter box at home, without a date on the letter stating that DMC has bought my debt, quoting reference 13000926, with contact details to contact Janet Benn 021 551 5115, that number no matter what time of day I called there was never an answer. The email address on this letter [Email Removed] I have sent emails only receive DNS Error-domain name not found. STD nor DMC has ever contacted me in the last 5 years to claim payment of this account & in terms of the Prescription Act 68 of 1969 certain debts are to be written off if not claimed within 3 years of last payment. Also, it is stated that the creditor has 3 years to attempt to contact the debtor regarding accounts. Recent contact from DMC was the first time since early 2000. I've not been contacted by anyone regarding STD loan account. As to my knowledge as per the Prescription Act, I don't have to repay this debt any longer as it has lapsed past the 3 year mark. I ask that DMC resolve this matter.
