Mercantile Bank
DEPUTY CEO NOT WILLING TO ASSIST!

My dad Mr JJ Abreu had R23 800.00 withdrawn from his account last year December 2012. Via Easypay, my dad is 71 years old and does not even know how to switch on a computer let alone to an EFT. As my parents were about to go overseas my mom called Mercantile Bank and told them to please put her card on hold as she got scared that this happened to my dad. And low and behold the same thing happened to her while she was away. R24 000.00 was taken out of her account. Please note she was away and she told the bank to put her card on hold. The bank still allowed the transaction. My parents had a meeting with Mr Karl Kumbier who said it is not the banks responsibility to give them their money back. The bank is also not willing to trace where the money has gone? This tells me that this is an inside job... Especially since it has happened to two elderly people who never use internet transactions and never use their cards. Very strange! Please understand this can not be left as is. We have sent a complaint to the oumbudsman and this will be emailed to Carte Blanche as well as put into the Portuguese news paper. This is unacceptable service and no way to to treat your clients.
