First For Women Insurance
Stranded with no help

I was travelling with my family (son two years old and daughter 6 months old) down to Pilgrams Rest for a weekend get away. I was on the R36, apprx 1km from Lydenburg, when I hit a pot hole (8:30pm). I was unable to change the tyre, we were in the middle of bush, I called the emergency assist line and was told I would have two hours before the breakdown service could get to me. I was then told the vehicle will have to be towed to an assessment center. Car hire can only assist the next morning, if I wanted to be towed to our destination (55km) I was responsible for call out fee. The call center agent, said there was nothing that could be done to assist me to get to my destination. I turned to AA for help. They came out within20min, and towed us to our destination. Hi Q came out to assist opening the tyre. Initially I was told Rims and tyres are covered for free, when I submitted claim, I was told to pay an excess of R4500.00. Double the amount to replace the damaged rim. I am ever soo regretful for signing with First for women.
