Six months ago my daughter and myself called in at FNB for her to give me full power of attorney on all her banking as she will be in the UK with her husband for the next few years. The consultant assured us that this was all we needed to do. Yesterday I called in at the bank with my full power of attorney to be told that I could not do anything on her account without her card. With much effort and telephoning the consultant was able to apply for a card. The interesting thing is with that card I cannot update or delete anything on the account. She is having problems with her Internet banking. The password to reset the banking is being sent to the SA cell phone that no longer exists. Although she receives her bank statements per e-mail they cannot put that e mail address on their Internet profile. The annoying part is why not tell us in the first instance that a full power of attorney was not worth the paper it was written on.
