Stay away from ABSA iDirect

We had a home burglary end of December and I lodged a claim against iDirect. The household goods were insured for a R 100 000.00 and the loss of the goods amounted to R 57 000.00. ABSA only paid R 10 800.00 because we were regarded as underinsured. At the acceptance of the insurance policy no inspection was suggested or required to accept our money. When Thandeka came out very friendly to compare the list of goods she also without advising my wife conducted an audit of the household goods asking my wife what the value of this or that was. When my wife responded for example R 3000 for a tv Thandeka said no, what is the replacement value of the tv. The value of the household goods in this way was hiked up to just under R 500 000.00. As a result the outcome was that we were underinsured and only 20% was paid out. I had no choice but sign the form. Thandeka also took our baby daughter's angelcare box with a part of the angel care toolkit but to date has not bothered to return the unit. My overall impression was that the purpose of the visit was to look for a reason not to pay out, so for those of you still insuring there take note!!!
