Cancel your insurance and still get charged!

First off, know one told me that they only cover your car if it is a right off (also my fault should have done the research), then when i want to cancel my policy i am transferred from calls person to calls person for 45minutes each telling me i am in the wrong department. then finally i get through to the right department and i get no help from what i am supposed to do, so after another 15 minutes of trying to find out what i need to do i finally get an answer that i must email my cancelation.
i email my cancelation through and get a reply to say it has been cancelled with immediate affect when i stated otherwise.
then this morning i get an sms from my bank to say prime meridian have debit my account for a policy that has been cancelled. so i call them up and am left on hold for close to 30 minutes, still cant get anyone to get back to me! me off how useless these companies are!
