I have made an application to ABSA for a Further Advance on my bond 23/01/2013. I have had my bond with for the past /- 7 to 8 years and never considered moving my bond to another bank. Yes, I have had some issues when I was not working in 2010 which ASBA assisted me through and there was a huge arrear amount which I settled in full when I started working again. I am not blacklisted and neither is my wife and we have good credit conduct for the past 6-8 months yet there are so many proof requests with our application which was declined on the basis that my wife's credit card was in arrears for the past 12months (I have provided the bank with the past 3months statements which I paid R180). Now the last request was that we get credit card statements to prove that the account was not in arrears for the past year. I am not willing to spend R500 on credit card statements when you as a bank can do the necessary checks with standard bank to confirm this information.
I do not feel this process has been fair. We are now seriously thinking about moving my bond over to FNB who is willing to assist. Get the National Credit Manager (Riyaz Smith) to contact me.
