Non-Existent Credit Card - Collection demand

Today I can honestly say and truly understand why ABSA is losing clients daily. In 2007 my wife closed all ABSA accounts including her credit card. Over the past couple of years she has been consistently phoned whether she would be interested in an ABSA credit card. We have been declining this ever since we closed all accounts. Then miraculously she receives communication that we own money on a ABSA credit card connected to her. She has not had a ABSA credit card since 2007 as EVERYTHING was closed. She has not been a ABSA client since 2007. Now we are trying to get hold of ABSA collection to sort this out but everyone working their is absolutely useless. Asking every time for her credit card number WHICH WE NEVER HAD BECAUSE SHE CLOSED ALL ACCOUNTS AND NEVER RECEIVED ANY CARD AFTER THAT!! How can she owe money on something that she never had!!

Thank we are Standard Bank clients with adequate staff that can actually assist.
