On 7 Feb. 2013 I attended this branch armed with a Power of Attorney to act on behalf of my son who was in Mozambique. I requested that his credit card be released for use in Mozambique. The p/a was not even examined. I was told that my son should phone the credit card dept personally and make such request which was not possible as he was out of range.. The bank's code of ethics states "we shoulkd act in the customer's best interests" (5.1.1) "apply reasonable judgment"(5.1.5). I was not allowed to act in terms of the p/a nor was I put through to the credit card dept. to whom I could have answered all of their security questions. It would seem that if a request is out of the ordinary the code of ethics does not apply. One cannot bypass the counter clerk and speak to a supervisor who can apply reasonable judgement.
