This really boggles my mind. I transferred some money from my Standard Bank account to another person's Standard bank account earlier today. She got confirmation of the EFT and went to withdraw the funds but she could not. When she went inside the Daveyton branch to ask how the ATM could say "insufficient funds" when the balance clearly shows the recently-transferred money she was told that "our system is rather slow today, it will take some time for the funds to clear". Heh, and here I was thinking that only cheques and transfers to other banks take time to clear! It has been over five hours and the money still has not "cleared". Needless to say, the emergency for which the money was needed has now become a crisis. Will Standard Bank pay for the inconvenience?
