Good day. Hope you are well.
I have just taken up a policy with Dial Direct Insurance. I have not even started the cover yet and am already shocked at being to. I was told when taking up the policy that I will not be charged extra for an automatic car. When the consultant called me back on 11th February 2013, at approximately 14:50 to finalize the policy - I asked him if my car hire would be manual or automatic. And would this change my policy should it be automatic. After checking with his manager, I was told that there is no difference and this does not change my premium. Paying an extra R35 is not a problem on a policy, especially for a customer's convenience. Being to however, is a completely different matter. As this sets the precedent for future communications.
And now when I call back, I am told that irrespective whether the error was on the company's part, I will still be required to pay the extra amount. Well then, I wonder if the CPA/FSB allows for companies to to customers to take up policies, and then just change their mind afterwards. That clearly seems dishonest in my mind.
