I received an email confirming that Wesbank had activated the "DA outstanding debt policy" on my account and would be increasing my monthly repayment by R300.
After phoning the call centre I was told that they don't have proof of insurance for me, so they just add a policy onto the account. I sent through proof of insurance when I purchased the car. Apparently it needs to be sent through every 2 years - but I didn't ever receive any reminder / request / warning from Toyota Finance.
So they just assume you have no insurance, add the amount to your policy, and make it your problem to ensure that it has been removed in time to not have the money deducted off your account. (And once the money is taken off your account, they can take their time to refund it while they earn interest.)
Now instead of responding to a simple request for proof of insurance with my policy schedule, I have to waste my time and airtime phoning the call centre and sorting this out.
