I received a scary phone call from a company that does debt collecting for Standard Bank. According to this company I owe money to Standard Bank for property. I am concerned as to where my details came from as I do not bank with Standard Bank now, and never have, and I do not own any property. When enquiring from Standard Bank's debt department about where this call came from, the man helping rudly said that he can't help me and ended the call by putting the phone down in my ear. This is really a big concern as Standard Bank is handing over people to the attorneys who are not even customers of them and then refuse to help or assist them in resolving the problem. I actually feel like writing a letter to the press about this as this can cause big damage.
