Aprroximately 4 months ago my husband and I applied for debt review. We were up to date with all our accounts and had not skipped a single payment. The company we used got the ball rolling, liaising with all our creditors. We have a Standard Bank home loan and this was obviously included. There wasn't a single creditor who raised any objection during this period. Out of the blue this month, I started receiving sms' from Standard Bank advising that our home loan is in arrears. I called the number and advised the consultant that we're under debt review. She said there was no hold on our account from Standard Bank Debt Review dept. I contacted our debt review co who contacted Standard bank only to be told we're under admin order and therefore the debt review cannot be accepted. What in the world Standard Bank?! How can we be under admin order and not know it?! We've only ever applied for debt review with DebtSafe as stipulated. Is this a ploy on your part to try to repossess our property and not allow us to honour our commitment in a dignified manner?! I've been a client for many years and am extremely disappointed by this and to top it all, you couldn't call to discuss??
