I closed my account with Standard Bank in 2001 and made arrangements to pay off my RWC which I did I still have all the proof also paid my overdraft account also have the proof and funny enough while I paid them off I never heard anything from them about a year after paying off everything debt collecting companies started to contact me that I owe Standard Bank money I called Standard Bank debt recovery department sent through proof of payments they just ignored me, and eventually I had to get Legal assistant to help me. The matter was then resolved with a letter from Standard Bank, and all of a suddenly I received a call from a debt collecting company that I owe Standard Bank R26628.34 for my cheque account, in 2001 I had a overdraft limit of R1000.00 so what the? I am now going to sue Standard Bank for all the jobs I did not get because I was blacklisted by them, for the fact that my daughter has been deprived of better education because the Student loan was declined as a result of the black listing, that I cannot go buy a car or even take out a cell phone contract in my name. I will never bank with Standard Bank again even if they are the last bank left in this country!!
