First National Bank
Kept In The Dark With My Bond Application

On 31 December 2012 I submitted a bond application to FNB. The lady whom I dealt with assured me that she would keep me up to date with the status of my application and that I would hear from her within 7 working days. I waited the 7 working days with no feedback. I then enquired with the FNB Home Loan Department who told me that there is no application from me reflecting on their system. I had to then phone the woman at The Glen branch to find out why. After numerous failed attempts to contact her I eventually succeeded and was told that my application had been rejected the very next day after my consultation with her. This would have been 01 January 2013 and highly unlikely that my application could have been processed on a public holiday. Something didn't make sense. I am shocked that no attempt was made to contact me or keep me in the picture as I was told! I am a good client of FNB and have always conducted my finances well. I am a soon to be qualified Engineer with a positive financial future. Is this how they treat prospective clients? Because of this poor service my endeavours to purchase a home are being hampered and I am now seriously reconsidering my choice of bank.
