I no longer know what to do as Absa have once again made it impossible to continue to bank with them. I closed my current account with Absa last year because I was not receiving the service I expected, then on the 21st Jan 2013 a friend made a payment into my closed account by mistake, my experience with other banks is that the funds are returned to sender as the account is no longer valid, clearly not the case with Absa. I noticed the error immediately and called the Absa platinum line and was told not to worry the funds would go into a holding account and returned to the sender in maximum 5 days, also Standard bank had confirmed that Absa had accepted the payment. 7 days later I called again, the 1st agent said there was nothing she can do for at all, her systems don't have access, I called again because my experience tells me that some agents are just lazy! 2nd agent tells me Absa no longer reverse payments (ludicrous as the money is not theirs to keep) however I should phone a division at their head office, I then called the number, spoke to a gentleman who tried to help but could not do anything. Finally I emailed missing payments and am yet to receive a response! WHAT NOW
