Transaction put through after account closed!!

I left ABSA bank during May of this year due to absurd banking charges and NO RESPONSE when I experience a problem. When trying to upgrade my account from Silver they also refused, although I earned more than enough per month. I am now with another bank and I have a Platinum Account and couldn't be happier! However, on 27 May 2013 I fully paid my ABSA Credit Card and CLOSED the account by going to the ABSA branch where I was instructed to phone the Card Division and close the account over the phone. The consultant instructed me to destroy my credit card, which I did. Now, two months later i receive a statement from ABSA Credit Cards showing a R 695 purchase at Game. How is this possible the the account is closed and I no longer have the card? Then when I phoned the Card Devision AGAIN the consultant informed me that the account was never closed as a matter of fact and that I should go to Game to get my money back. This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard of in my entire life!! This must be illegal!!
