I went to FNB atm at close by total garage to withdraw cash to purchase in china town mall since most of the shops do not use eft. At the atm, I inserted my card and punched my pin and then the option of own amount was not available on R2500 was showing. I cancelled the transaction then took my card and drove off. After 15 minutes i received notification on my phone that R2500 withdrawn from my account and I panicked and drove back to the garage and did not see anything. I went to the bank, waited outside for the bank to open. The consultant assisted me to file a report for fraud and I gave them statement of what happened. The consultant took the my card and destroyed and applied for a new one. I waited for 2 weeks to get feedback from FNB and they told me that they can not assist me since it was my negligence. What surprises me is how can it be my negligence because no one assisted me with the atm, also I had my card with me and was destroyed by their own consultant to prove that I did not negligently lose my card. When I try to get the understanding of their reasoning they did not bother to give me answers.
