Outstanding money after I receive a paid up lette

I took a contract cellphone with cell c in june 2007, I pay every month until december 2008 there time I lose my job, I call cell c to tell them that I will start paying when I ge another job, I get a job in 2010 I made arrangment with their legal department PHOLOSA ASSETS MANAGEMENT to debit money till I finish payng, after that they send me a paid u letter, after a year they come back to me sayng I am owing them money. When I ask dem why they stop debitng my account and send me a paid up letter they say their record show that I'm still owing them money, they keep on sending me sms and emails every month that I owe them.
