Since middle last year I have been called by Mary from Jacobs Burnard& associates about an outstanding balance on a Vodacom contract. The only contract I ever had with Vodacom was a three year contract for a laptop I purchased in November 2008 on a 36 month contract. the contract reached full term and I cancelled it telephonicaly with Vodacom in January of 2012.
Now I am being threatened by Jacobs, Burnard& for an arrears of R13 615.00
I was never told that I had to cancel in writing by any one and at any time and since I have no proof in writing that Vodacom has cancelled my contract I am liable to JB&A for the above amount. What is the legality of this?
And then there is a second number that appears on my Statement as sent by Mary from JB&A that no-one can tell me where it comes from, who's it is or why I am liable for it. I am sure that an error has occurred somewhere and I'm being keelhauled for someone else's error.
Your assistance in this regard will be highly appreciated.
