I've lodged a complaint with Standard Bank regarding the transactions that were allowed on my current account on the 14th of March 2013. I've received no response apart from the reversal of the transactions.
To highlight my complaint,
On the 8th of March 2013, I took my bike in for a service at Honda East Rand and paid for it using my cheque card, amount paid was R905.82.
On the 14th of March 2013 I've noticed that my account was in overdraft of more than R5, 3m. After investigating I've noticed that there were 10 transactions of R500, 000 and one of R388, 857.06 that were debited to my account indicating purchases from Honda. These transactions were all authorized with the original still indicating that it was outstanding.
I've requested from my bank (Standard Bank Braamfontein) to investigate and correct these transactions which they did after but only 3 days. I'm still waiting for an explanation or a formal response to my complaint (32793222). My daughter recently applied for a study loan but was declined due to me as her surety.
If there is no response from Standard Bank, I'm going to register a complaint with the Ombudsman.
