Recently i called Outsurance to obtain competitive quotes on vehicle insurance. After completing all the questions and answered accurately i received an insurance quote of -R1100. I am currently insured through Zurich and pay comprehensive cover of -R550.
This quote over Double the premiums i am currently paying, which is not even close to competitive and is in actual fact daylight. I am very disappointed in the attitude of the managers who i spoke to who told me that the difference is due to my high risk profile (over the age 25, been driving for over 7 years, never claimed previously and live in a secure complex and work in a secure complex in Morningside, drive 5 km to work and don't use vehicle for business use). Very strange how i can have two different risk profiles for 2 different insurance providers.
After asking for them to explain how they got to this premium i was told that they don't know and cant help explain. Not only did i not receive a close to competitive insurance quote i also did not receive the R400 for them not being able to match/ beat the quote.
