Nedbank
House

I am a mother Who recently lost her husband. He died in December 2012. In 2007, my husband and I registered a mortgage bond for the purchase of our home, in favour of Nedbank in the amount of R350 000. When he died in December 2012, I continued to pay the bond in full and am and never have been in arrears with the bond. One month after he died I received a letter from Nedbank's attorneys, Mohammed's Inc advising me that Nedbank is calling for the full payment of the bond and they advised me to approach the bank for assistance for another mortgage bond. In my name only, even though were married in community of property and my name does appear on the current mortgage bond documents. With the new national credit act in place as well as my reduced income, I most certainly will not qualify for a similar mortgage bond at similar rates.

Why is the bank demanding the cancellation of the existing bond when I am not in arrears? I have also been advised that an application can easily be made to the deeds office to register me as the sole mortgagee of the existing bond. I have not missed a single payment and the banks heavy handed and unreasonable stance is effectively depriving my family
