Delayed return of motor after wrongly taken away

My vehicle broke down on 31 December 2012, the engine had seized because the water pump broke letting the water leak out of the engine. Where-after I contacted my insurance company (Santam) and they sent out an assessor to the damage. The assessor took many photos of and documented what had happened to my vehicle. The assessor then arranged for my vehicle to be taken to Shogun Panelbeaters via a rollback truck on 11 January 2013. This company then quoted Santam on what it would cost to repair the damage. Upon receiving this quote the assessor informed me that my vehicle had a mechanical fault and that this is not covered by my policy. I was then told to go fetch my (stripped) vehicle from the panelbeaters. I enquired at Santam and they promised me that the claim would be reviewed by the claims committee and this never happened. When I didn't hear from them I sent a letter to Santam's head office in Cape Town on 15 Feb, heard nothing back, I then went to their Garsfontein branch where they said they received my letter, that the claim had been turned down and that they would return my vehicle. I only received my vehicle on 11 April after consulting my broker in the mean time
