A couple of weeks ago my current account went R10 beyond the overdraft limit and I immediately received an sms to that effect. I called the bank immediately and sorted it out. Tonight I log on only to discover that due to a car hire hold that had not been lifted, and a tenant that had not paid her rent, my one debit order has been reversed, costing me MAJOR embarrassment with the creditor and R90!! Whilst I accept responsibility for the oversight (and am having strong words with my tenant) SURELY I should have received notice before this point was reached!! I mean two weeks ago I receive an SMS about R10 and now Nedbank could not do me the courtecy of contacting me about this incident. Having banked there for over a decade any pen pusher with a basic level of education should be able to see that the lack of funds is due to a temporary hold on my card and why not just contact me!!?? This now puts me on a wrong footing with the creditor in question (a bond financier) when it could easily have been sorted out with a phone call and quick transfer of funds in a day. I am livid! It is time to back up the posh ads and bank interiors with real service.
