Unsatisfied with funeral policy

I took out a funeral policy for my mom, phone today to change my bank details find out that it is on my mom's ID number, and she's the main member how the is that possible as I'm the one paying for it I took it out why is it not on my name, wanting to know who's the beneficiary she must phone them why? why?
