I have been an Absa client for more than 15 years and have at least 6 savings & investment products with them. As I travel frequently, airport lounge access is great, so I inquired online for their Private Banking facility. I used the "Call me back"option on 28th January and I have still not heard back from them to date. On Wednesday 30th Jan I used the email inquiry. On 31 Jan I received a one line reply asking for my account number. I then supply this with additional account and product info within 30 min. The next day I receive a response stating that this facility is for Private Bank clients only and that I should into a branch if I have any further queries. They missed the point completely! Have made no effort and probably have not read my query to begin with. On Friday i replied that I will be closing my accounts as a result of this poor service and guess what... I got an automated reply telling what their offices hours are and until now have still not been contacted by them. FYI I sent queries to both Investec and FNB yesterday and both their agents and been on the phone with me working through a seamless transition of banks!
